YogaSource Los Gatos

YogaSource Los GatosHow can I start to write about my home away from home? That’s what YogaSource Los Gatos has been to me, so naturally, it is my first studio review. And there is so much to this that goes beyond the walls and and beautiful facade that make this studio such a resounding success, that it will be hard to sum up in this short review.

YogaSource Los Gatos Studio I’ve been practicing at YogaSource Los Gatos since 2002 when studio owner Linda McGrath brought Bikram yoga to Los Gatos. I had been intrigued by the “hot” style and decided to try it. The environment was friendly and inviting and not at all dogmatic. Linda’s philosophy was all inclusive; her voice as an instructor was soothing and offered small words of inspiration throughout the practice to help the student move within his or her own body. I really enjoyed this non-dogmatic approach to yoga and because of that became a faithful member of the studio.

The studio started in a tiny location in down Los Gatos in small, one-room, carpeted studio with a tiny lobby that had three small bamboo changing areas with curtains. Over the years, Linda opened up the studio to different kinds of yoga, exploring Ashtanga and Power yoga. Although Ashtanga brought in the few dedicated to learning more about yoga in general, it was Power yoga that really made the studio blossom. Athletes and non-athletes of all kinds became addicted to the creativity that Linda brought to Power yoga. Bikram in its own right remained popular, but faithful Bikram students became interested in trying Power as well. Her teacher training program also put out some of the most creative, energetic and conscientious teachers whose distinctive personalities and unique style of teaching began drawing in the crowds.

YogaSource Los Gatos LobbyIt wasn’t long before the studio had to change locations and in 2007, it moved to Los Gatos Boulevard. The new studio was a breath of fresh air, 4000 square feet, styled in a Balinese design with hard wood floors, bamboo accents, high ceilings and state of the art heating and ventilation system. The lobby offers clothing, books, yoga accessories and comfortable seating for friends to socialize before or after class. The studio also offers beautifully designed showers and changing areas for both men and women.

At the time of the move, Yoga Source Los Gatos began offering may more styles to its schedule, including, Yin Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Foundations of Flow as well as its two heated and still quite popular practices, Bikram and Power yoga.

YogaSource Los Gatos StudioYet again, it hasn’t taken long for the success of this studio to grow even more. Recently, the studio announced expansion to take place in the adjacent location and plans to use it for a second studio that will enable variety of classes to be taught simultaneously.

If you’re in the Los Gatos area, stop by and try a class at YogaSource Los Gatos. You won’t be sorry!
